I love school holidays now that I work full time ... I love the down time, not needing to get school lunches and homework and school clothes organised, not needing to leave the house by 7:30am, having the time to cook more complicated dinners ... but we are in the last weekend now, not to worry, 8 short weeks and I will be right back in school holiday mode again!!! Yay!!
What have we done these holidays?? Here we go ...
Thomas made a crazy Harry Potter Cluedo game, with appropriate lego pieces in each room. Food in the dining room, Hagrid playing a drum set in the ballroom!
We watched the SMURFS in 3D - it was so funny, I totally loved it (as did Jamie and Thomas)
Uncle Andrew finally got his appreciation badge that Thomas made in class for him last term. Oh, and he also got his surgery fellowship for next year - yay!!!!!!!!!!!
Mum and I had 3 days shopping in Perth looking for the perfect wedding outfit. It was crazy fun shopping for an entire outfit - clothes, shoes, stocking, handbag, jewellery, hair accessories. I am really happy with what I have got and can't wait to wear it.
We did feel a bit like Pretty Woman, with all our shopping bags, and other people were starting to stare and comment by the end. Really wanted some shop assistant to be nasty to us so we could wave our bags in her face and say "big mistake, big mistake" .. but sadly they were all too polite and helpful!
Mum's birthday is tomorrow - we framed an artwork of Thomas's - she was suitable impressed.
A Jessie doll came home from Perth for Henry - courtesy of a Toys R Us voucher he was given at Xmas that I forgot about!!. He loves Jessie, so much so that Woody and Jessie needed to come for a bike ride on our full moon walk.
Thomas got a new bike - he has been waiting for one with gears for a while now. Managed to only crash once on his way home from the shop.
There is a new fashion accessory in our house - click a magnetic soft toy turtle onto your arm to take with you everywhere you go. This was started by Thomas last school holidays after Grandma bought him the turtle at AQWA. Henry thinks it is the coolest thing ever.
Jamie has continued to work towards his Grey Wolf badge for cubs - here he is leading other cubs on a 2 hour bushwalk.
We have also had lots of appointments these holidays. Most of them went OK, except for the veins in my leg being declared incompetent and likely needing surgery and an ENT who seemed to think that Henry's continual recurrent ear infections do not warrant grommets! Needless to say I am less than impressed, especially seeing as he is sick again now, and was sick at the appointment - the testing the ENT did showed fluid in his ears and reduced movement of his ear drums. That combined with the poor speech, inability to hear what I am trying to teach him and his continual illness should be a dead certainty for grommets! I will just need to keep fighting, but right now I want to throw in the towel and walk away!!!
I also managed lots of scrapping layouts these holidays - will scan them up soon!!
Enjoy.
Amanda
