I have had major trouble with varicose veins on my right leg since I was pregnant with Thomas. They were very painful and swollen during Henry's pregnancy and since starting work full time, they have become even worse. So I made the decision to have them operated on. Caught the train to Perth on Thursday, leaving James at home with a rotten cold and 3 boys! Mum dropped me at the hospital in the wee hours of Friday morning ... my turn came around about 1pm that afternoon. It was at this point that I quietly started freaking out. Came out of the anaesthetic to be greeted with a leg very tightly bandaged from my toes to my groin ... spent a restless, painful night in hospital. My blood pressure dropped, which is pretty common for me, but it isn't a nice feeling. Was discharged to Mum's on Saturday and spent the day on her lovely recliner lounges. The bandages are off my leg, so I have a bit more movement, but am now wearing a "lovely" pressure stocking for the next 2 weeks. Today (Sunday) Mum and Dad were on their way to Albany and the plan was for me to catch a ride to Bunbury and for James to meet me there. Disappointingly I couldn't face the thought of being in a car for 2 plus hours .... my leg hurts, I was nauseous and dizzy, and needing the toilet a lot! So have made the tough call to stay here, on my own, until they get back from Albany tomorrow and maybe then I will be more up to sitting in the car to get to Bunbury and then Busselton. I hope so, because I really want to be home .. someone seriously needs to invent a time portal, so I can get home instantly!!!
Wish me luck!
Amanda
